Elective Procedures

For nearly all companion animals, our veterinarians strongly advise surgical sterilization. That is an ovariohysterectomy, or spay, for females, and an orchiectomy, or neuter, for males. There are many benefits to this procedure for your pet, including reduced risk of reproductive organ cancers, pyometra (emergency infection of the uterus,) prostate enlargement, unwanted breeding, and undesirable behaviors. Your veterinarian will discuss this with you during your pet’s pediatric appointments to plan the best time for this procedure, tailored specifically to your pet.
